So, yesterday I had some plumbing issues at my piece of shit apartment and, lacking the tools and with practically no experience in plumbing, I called a plumber and he said he'd be here by 8 am, the next day. Fast forward 12 pm, the next day, and here I am, still waiting. Oh yeah, except not really, because in the four hours since I woke up, I went out, bought some tools, bought some parts, figured out how to do plumbing and fixed the bathroom by myself.

plumbing is easy. Just remember, shit only flows downhill, and you are set

Plumbing isn't to hard until you have to get into the slab. It's very hard to get anyone that will try to just locally bust the slab around the main leak and see if it is an easy fix. I had one like that and after about $1500 and three plumbers later, we finally got someone that would listen and get it fixed right there. I just had to bust out a lot of the slab myself.

Me and my FIL fixed two leaky sinks and declared ourselves master plumbers.

Oh yeah, taking down the back shower wall, that was oddly rewarding for some reason. Putting it all back wasn't though, hahahaha...

Power tools make everything fun. Plus destruction is always fun.

Fortunately, the shitter wasn't involved, it was just the shower and nearby piping that were leaking and spraying in directions I didn't even know exist.
Then again, even fixing the toilet wouldn't probably be as disgusting as moving a fecaloma. I dunno if that qualifies as plumbing, but godamn it, it's pretty disgusting.

True... I should probably some power tools eventually. Today's job was done a la Clarkson.

There you go. I recently replaced the heating element in my dryer. It was a bit of a task, but I learned everything I needed to know from YouTube. The part was about $50, but the labor was FREE. I can only imagine how much a repair guy would have charged.

Not to mention how much it would last... My sister had a repairman do the same job when I was on vacation, about two months ago, for 160 reais, and the most expensive thing I bought today was a wrench (the biggest, manliest fucking one I could find) for 53 reais.

Just be careful with solder. My Dad made the mistake of soldering "above" himself because of the way he had to contort himself to get under the cabinet and the solder dripped down onto his hand. Normally it would've run off and only caused a minor burn, but he forgot to remove his wedding ring first and the hot solder stuck to it and pooled in the crease between his fingers.
